In celebration of our 200 Hour Yoga Teacher Training that begins next week (!!) at Forma Gym in Walnut Creek, CA, here's what we actually do for all those hours...
Because we are a Yoga Alliance registered School, we are required to follow their curriculum guidelines for each hour that we're in training. But what does that even mean?! These are the topics we'll cover:
Training, Techniques and Practice - Practice, practice, practice. We practice a lot of yoga. No surprise there. This category covers all things asana (poses), pranayama (breath), and meditation. How to do it, how to modify it, how it impacts the body systems, how to teach it.
Anatomy & Physiology - Bones, muscles, joints. Body Systems. How we move.
Yoga Humanities - The history and origins of yoga. Philosophy, lifestyles and ethics. How yoga fits into society.
Professional Essentials - How to write a class. How to string poses together. What to say. Teaching principles and guidlines. How to be a professional in the industry.
So what do a typical day in training look like?
20 minutes - Ceremony, Meditation, Intention Setting
90 minutes - Yoga Practice
90 minutes - Asana Lab
LUNCH
90 minutes - Lecture/Discussion
60 minutes Practice Teaching
